The annual boats.com European Marine Industry Web Awards have received an overwhelming response from marine companies entering their websites for awards that seek to recognise excellence in web communication. With entries up significantly on last year the standards of web excellence from entrants was impressive.

Nearly 100 marine websites were nominated which was an outstanding result for the just the second year of the awards. Sites came from big names in the industry such as Fairline, International Coatings and Simrad as well as organisations such as Sunsail and former award winner, Neilson. A range of smaller companies and marine businesses from across Europe and the world also entered their sites.

Ian Atkins, MD of boats.com Europe commented; "Last year's inauguration of the awards was a huge success and to do even better in this, its second year is great news. We are delighted with the result and are very pleased that so many companies saw the need for recognition in this area. This is the only competition of its kind in the marine industry and boats.com is very proud to have been able to create and host the awards. We feel it is a very important reward to offer within the industry."

Sites will be shortlisted by the 6 judges over the coming weeks and the winners along with 2nd and 3rd place winners will be chosen before award ceremony held on the at the London Boat Show on 13 January 2004 at 5.30pm.
